    Mary Jane Rozypal, Specialty Asset Regional Manager at Bank of America and Roger Clark, Senior Vice President in Real Estate Advisory Services at Northern Trust, will be panelists at our meeting on February 11th. They will be providing their insight on how one can use farmland as a component to a diversified asset portfolio and succession planning for farmland – the process and options to retain for future generations or to sell. Mary Jane and Roger will include examples of clients they have worked with to illustrate how they have provided the best solutions for these critical topics.

    Mary Jane Rozypal is a Senior Vice President and the Southwest Regional Farm and Ranch Manager in the Investment Solutions Group within the Global Wealth & Investment Management Division of Bank of America. Mary Jane is based in Houston, Texas and with her team of seven farm and ranch managers oversees the management of property located predominantly in Texas and the surrounding states, as well as along the west coast. Mary Jane personally manages property located within the central and coastal areas of Texas.

    Responsibilities include the ongoing management of farm & ranch assets for U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management platforms. In addition to providing ongoing management of existing properties, Mary Jane is also involved in a Farmland Investment Program which purchases and provides professional management of farms for customers. 

    Mary Jane has been with the bank since 1990. Prior to transferring to the Farm & Ranch Group in May 2000 Mary Jane was in Tax Compliance for ten years.

    Mary Jane graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. Like most of the Farm & Ranch Managers with Bank of America Investment Solutions Group Specialty Asset Management, Mary Jane comes from a rural background growing up on a farm and ranch in South Texas.

    Roger Clark was raised on a corn, soybean, and beef farm in Champaign County, Illinois.  After graduating from the University of Illinois with a BS degree in Agricultural Economics in 1979, Roger began a career as a farm manager in the trust department of Continental Illinois National Bank in Chicago.

    Roger headed the trust real estate department of Chicago Title & Trust Company from 1985 until 1999 covering aspects of property management, leasing, sales, and acquisitions for trust and decedent’s estate clients as well as guardianship estate clients for a wide array of types of properties.  Details of duties included developing a property insurance program, real estate tax program, environmental risk assessment, and single family resident acquisition/construction procedures (mainly for probate court supervised guardianship clients with special accessibility needs).

    Since 1999, Roger has been with the Real Estate Services Division [a part of the National Advisory Services team] of The Northern Trust Company in the role of a Senior Asset Manager and Team Leader focusing mainly on residential properties as well as agricultural properties [traditional row crops, timber, and ranch] for trust, estate, and foundation clients. Roger has also enjoyed providing volunteer charitable efforts servicing on boards of directors of the University of Illinois Library Friends and the Illinois 4-H Foundation.
